Believe He Will

Several years ago I heard one of my granddaughters singing and it ministered to my heart, the chorus of Trust and Obey:

  • Trust and obey
  • for there’s no other way
  • to be happy in Jesus,
  • but to trust and obey.

Easy to say, but sometimes hard to do.

. . . the joy of the Lord is your strength. (Nehemiah 8:10)

Lord, all my life I heard, “You need to lose weight. You need to go on a diet.” Long ago, the doctor wrote on my chart- “Obese.” That word stayed on my medical chart for years. Many people have advised me on how to diet. Some of those I paid money to for their advice. Now people are telling me I’m too skinny. They say, “Stop losing weight.” Even my doctor has now said, “Don’t lose any more.” Then she added, “Well, maybe five more pounds.”

Wow! All my life I never thought I’d hear the words, “Don’t lose any more. You’re getting too skinny.” Thank you Lord. Amazing! Now I need to know where on these scales do You want me to stop? I’m trusting You. Lead me to Your perfect will for this body You gave me.

This was my answer to one of those telling me to stop losing weight. “I haven’t weighed myself since mid-Sept. I’m praying and seeking God for His will for my weight. I plan to weigh myself on November 1. My weight on that day will stay my life-goal weight.”

After I achieve that goal Lord, I’ll need You to teach me about maintenance eating . I’ve never been on maintenance before. I don’t know what to do. I’m afraid. What if I start gaining weight?

As you seek My will, I will lead you My child. I will teach you in the way you should go. I will guide you with My eye.

My husband hugs me and says, “I love the way you look.” Wow! After all these years of hearing, “Why won’t you lose weight?” Thank you Lord for tickling my ears with the praises of my husband. Thank you Lord for his smile as he looks at me. Wow!

IMG_2572Another friend at church asked, “What are you doing to lose your weight? I wish I could lose weight. I keep praying and praying begging God to help me, but nothing happens.”

This was my answer to her, “Ask God for help, listen to what He says, and then do what He says.  I had no choice but to listen, trust, and obey. I weighed 241 pounds. I was desperate. But when you ask someone for help, You have to do what they say. If you don’t do what they say, then they won’t help you anymore. God is the same way. So I had to do what He said.”

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. If God will deliver/ heal me, an old grandma, He will do the same for you. He’s holding your victory in His hand now. Reach for it.

Believe He will.

Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6 NKJV

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye. Psalm 32:8 NKJV

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. Ephesians 3:20 NKJV

Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25 NKJV

And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”                                                                     They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Matthew 9:28 NKJV

About deborahcrocker

I am a retired public school teacher. I have been married for 44 years to my high school sweet heart. We have two grown children and six grandchildren. For many years I have written my prayers in order to maintain both my focus and as a release from my stresses. These prayers are written in the form of dialog with God. I write my concerns, questions, and then write the answers just as they came into my heart. This website contains the conversations I had with God concerning my constant struggle with my weight and my compulsion to overindulge in the pleasure of food. I have gained, lost, and regained over 60lbs several times throughout my lifetime. I am now in the process of surrendering this addiction to God’s control and I know He will give me the victory. I believe that God speaks to all of His children in different ways. With me, He speaks both in my heart and in my dialog writings. ”My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27 It is my hope and prayer that these dialogs will both encourage and bless you throughout your own journey of breaking free from your addiction. I hope that you will also begin having your own personal dialogs with God. He will speak to your heart as well.I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and that He rose again on the third day so that we may have a “new” life both here on Earth and later in Heaven. I also believe that my overeating (gluttony) is a sin (addiction) that has held me in bondage with a constant struggle for most of my adult life. This addiction, like all addictions, has prevented me from living a life to my fullest potential. I have always felt controlled and defeated by this overwhelming compulsion to overeat. This compulsion, at times, has damaged both my confidence and my potential. John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly. BUT I know that Jesus Christ has come to set me free! HE IS THE ANSWER! As I surrender the control of my life and desires to His direction and His will, He will set me free from all addictions! He promises and He will make you free too! John 8:36 Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. VICTORY IS COMING!!!
