Gym. You Vote. Yes or No?

Lord, do You remember her, the world’s oldest body builder?

Yes My child, I know her very well. She’s one of Mine.

Look at her. Wow! Is there is hope for me? Here I am, age 63 trying out this gym experience. Yes, I know I’m weak. Yes, I know You told me to walk, but I confess I’ve been slacking in exercise.

I’ll never look like her, but I can get stronger.

img_8471Lord, these arms have never cramped like they did today. My sister told me I needed potassium. You know I don’t like taking pills. How did my arms get so weak?

And my legs are weak too. Lord, how did this happen? I walked some last Summer, but these legs don’t remember. They panicked on these machines.

My child, I created your muscles for daily use.  It is true, “If you don’t use it, you lose it.” So use them for My glory.

You could also drink more water, you know. It seems we talked about this before. Your body needs water just as a smooth running machine requires oil. Water is to your body as oil is to a machine. Are you drinking enough water?

Lord, (hanging my head) uh, no.

Then My child, return back to what you know. If you want My advice, you must follow My instructions.

On the second day, I tried the above machine for the first time. At the time, I was thinking, “Wow, this one’s easy. It just swings back and forth. I wonder what part of your body this one works on?”

My sister laughed. “You don’t sit on that one. You put your knees down on it where you’re sitting now and pull yourself back and forth.”

“Oh, . . . I wondered why  it was so easy.”

 – – – Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NKJV

 – – – I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Psalm 32:8 NKJV

– – – I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7

– – – But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:27 NKJV

– – –  Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.  Hebrews 12:1 NKJV

About deborahcrocker

I am a retired public school teacher. I have been married for 44 years to my high school sweet heart. We have two grown children and six grandchildren. For many years I have written my prayers in order to maintain both my focus and as a release from my stresses. These prayers are written in the form of dialog with God. I write my concerns, questions, and then write the answers just as they came into my heart. This website contains the conversations I had with God concerning my constant struggle with my weight and my compulsion to overindulge in the pleasure of food. I have gained, lost, and regained over 60lbs several times throughout my lifetime. I am now in the process of surrendering this addiction to God’s control and I know He will give me the victory. I believe that God speaks to all of His children in different ways. With me, He speaks both in my heart and in my dialog writings. ”My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27 It is my hope and prayer that these dialogs will both encourage and bless you throughout your own journey of breaking free from your addiction. I hope that you will also begin having your own personal dialogs with God. He will speak to your heart as well.I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and that He rose again on the third day so that we may have a “new” life both here on Earth and later in Heaven. I also believe that my overeating (gluttony) is a sin (addiction) that has held me in bondage with a constant struggle for most of my adult life. This addiction, like all addictions, has prevented me from living a life to my fullest potential. I have always felt controlled and defeated by this overwhelming compulsion to overeat. This compulsion, at times, has damaged both my confidence and my potential. John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly. BUT I know that Jesus Christ has come to set me free! HE IS THE ANSWER! As I surrender the control of my life and desires to His direction and His will, He will set me free from all addictions! He promises and He will make you free too! John 8:36 Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. VICTORY IS COMING!!!

I love Planet Fitness. First I sweat, then I sit in the massage chair. It’s great, and my clothes are looser already.

I have thought about joining a gym. Just afraid things would come up and I would end up paying for something I can’t get to. (I don”t like wasting my hard earned $.)

    • I joined this gym a few years ago when I weighed over 230 pounds. They took one look and said, “You walk.” Considering my shape this was probably the best advice. But over time it got very boring and I quit going. Another reason I quit though was that at that time, I was still into heavy eating.

Now my sister is encouraging me to go with her. I’m seriously considering it due to my discovery of just how weak I am.

Yes, but not just a gym. Not one that does not daily take you through a planned out customized work out plan based on your goals with an experienced, educated, award winning trainer that guarantees results, and that will pray for you and with you. PT&N usually gets more results in a month than a regular gym does in a year. Jan Horn 251-634-8885. Never pay for a day you do not use.

How have you been, my friend- I am so happy for you that you are exploring hitherto unexplored roads. Remember the road less taken, is the best road.

  4. Yes indeed. Keep at it Deb 🙂

yes . . . I have a membership with Gold’s Gym, it is kind of far from where I live so I don’t get there very often, but I WANT to be there a few times a week . . . praying in one (with a pool) closer to me!
